Tom Melamed joined the University of Bristol in April 2003, before that he was a researcher for HP Laboratories and prior to that worked for a smart card solutions provider. He gained a BSc in Physics from the University of Bristol in 2000. And a year later gained a MSc with commendation in Computer Science from the same university, with a project on location aware mobile messaging.

Tom's current work is centred around the appliance engineering strand of Mobile Bristol. He is currently focusing specifically on the networking and media delivery aspect of the software but continues to be involved with many other aspects of the development. Tom was also the main developer on Schminky and is currently contributing to a number of projects. His main areas of experience are in mobile embedded development and in network and server software having done work in these overlapping fields for all previous employers. He is also starting to develop software for mobile phones to broaden the potential appeal of Mobile Bristol.
