Tom Melamed joined the University of Bristol
in April 2003, before that he was a researcher for HP Laboratories
and prior to that worked for a smart card solutions provider.
He gained a BSc in Physics from the University of Bristol in
2000. And a year later gained a MSc with commendation in Computer
Science from the same university, with a project on location
aware mobile messaging.
Tom's current work is centred around the appliance engineering strand of Mobile
Bristol. He is currently focusing specifically on the networking and media delivery
aspect of the software but continues to be involved with many other aspects of
the development. Tom was also the main developer on Schminky and
is currently contributing to a number of projects. His main areas of experience
are in mobile embedded development and in network and server software having
done work in these overlapping fields for all previous employers. He is also
starting to develop software for mobile phones to broaden the potential appeal
of Mobile Bristol.
