Nigel Derrett has worked as an independent consultant since 2001. He helps organisations to organise their strategy and long term thinking, and has undertaken a variety of projects as an outsourced management "brain for hire".

Nigel has experience as a corporate strategist, a senior R&D manager and a university lecturer. He has considerable experience of managing the innovation process. Before setting up his own business, Nigel was Director of Strategy for Psion plc, with responsibility for mapping Psion's strategic move from manufacturing PDAs to a wider range of mobile devices. Prior to this he was Director of the Hewlett-Packard Personal Systems Laboratory, with responsibility for advanced research and development of portable and personal devices.

Nigel Derrett holds an M.Sc in Mathematics and a D.Phil in Computing from Oxford University.

In his spare time, Nigel plays the bassoon.
